The days of merely basing your content on likes are over. I know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true. While a number of likes may be beneficial for partnerships, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the number of likes and followers will translate to more money. As a business, your focus should be on the value of the content that you are offering to your consumer. As you’re reading this think about how the information you provide to your audience is beneficial to them.

When creating content there are a few ways that you can go about your process. The first thing to consider is your why behind the content you’re posting. Why should your audience engage with your content? What value are you bringing them? How do you want them to feel? Is there a call to action at the end of your messaging? By considering these questions, it eliminates a lot of the fluff and pretty content. We know that pretty content doesn’t always translate to monetization.

After that consider breaking your thoughts and information down into themes. You can have a monthly theme that can be broken down into four topics for each week and each day. This way, you’ll be able to see your content on a large scale and then break it down. From there, it is up to you if you’d like to write out your captions first and find a picture to match the caption or vice versa. There isn’t only one way to create content, develop a flow and schedule that works for you and your content.

To see how your content is performing, it’s beneficial to stay up to date with changes in metrics and algorithms. Here are a few successful tools outside of followers:

  1. Saves and shares (you can view your insights on each post to see who’s liked and shared your content.

  2. Clicks and swipe-ups (linktr.ee + swipe ups if you have 10,000 followers and up)

  3. Conversions, Contacts, and DMs (Basically, you’re booked and busy. You’re getting a lot of reach with your content and it’s showing!)

  4. User-Generated Content (this is content created by people versus brands)

With these tips, you should feel more prepared to create content and engage with your followers. Remember that you are an expert in your market, you just have to make it relatable and valuable.
